Going To My Mums For Dinner!
I wrote this on Easter Sunday but my sweet little lappy decided to go on strike so I couldnt post it until today.
The dinner did go well,it was delicious and everybody had a noisy boisterous time, well the youngest two kiddiewinks certainly did!
So below is my Easter Dinner chatter

*********************************

Oh wow I'm having dinner cooked today!

How exciting and yummy!

Does it matter what is served? Not a bit!
It could be chips and egg,it could be hotdogs,it could be anything that is warm and edible and put infront of me by someone else...this is my moment...being fed by someone...that wonderful feeling of someone else cooking for you.

It is so very rare that I get the chance of someone else making a meal for me,perhaps just four times a year.... Christmas Day,Boxing Day,New Years Day and today,Easter and it's my mum who does this for me and all our motley gang.

The poor lady started out with just a family of four and now has a extended family of 12 and we add more people as the grandchildren grow and their girlfriends appear.....it's never ending!

And the table keeps growing too!Although now its reached the stage where other than knock a wall down it has got to stop growing,we will just have to squash up more!

My poor mum has her hands so full! You should see the amount of potatoes and veg that is prepared, copious amounts!

But I think the worst thing must be the serving up!All those plates, everyone wanting different, trying to keep it warm, total nightmare!I do help out with that side now and it's real interesting being let in the kitchen after all these years.
You need a real calm head on your shoulders as there are hot bubbling pans on the go and things going in and out of the oven, people maneuvering backwards and forwards,it's like being in Gordon Ramsey's kitchen, minus the swearing!

And then comes the moment where you all sit down and eat and for a few seconds it's peaceful, after that the chatter starts and it's not at all peaceful!

I sit next to Chips and his cousin and the teens congregate at the far end of the table,I often glance round and smile,I think this is a memory that all my boys will remember forever, yet another reason I love going to my mum and dads for dinner.

Oh and it's not just anything that is served up,it's a roast dinner with all the trimmings, nom all the way!

With a cuppa in one hand and a glass of wine in the other I will be a happy chappy bunny!

  5. This sounds amazing! I love big family dinners. My Mum is a domestic goddess and calm person too. She has had to knock her dining room into her lounge and make one big room. I am the eldest of 7 and 3 of have kids - I have one, two of my sisters have two and now my brothers wife is expecting. Plus there is my Uncle on his own so we generally have a big roast to serve 16 people plus!! I love going there and hope one day I can do the same for her. Thank you so much for linking up to PoCoLo and for all your valued support xx
