I'm not tired!I'm really not tired!

Today we were invited to a Jubilee party and what a fab time we had!

The sun was out, unlike yesterday's rainy old weather, infact it was so strong I worried at one point about Chipmunk getting sunburnt!

The party organisers made us so welcome, there was a barbecue and lots and lots of yummy cakes.

Here's a few of the cakes and my cup of tea!The cakes did look more appealing before they had been got at by the hungry hordes, but you can get the picture!

The house had been trimmed up with bunting, which flapped merrily in the wind.

There were quite a few families there and lots of children and this was where the fun began.

Chipmunk had took his scooter and so had many of the other kids and because all the grown ups where sitting on the front garden the children were allowed to play on the street!

What a treat to play in a gang of children on a street!

This is something I took for granted as a child and I spent most of my childhood playing unsupervised out on the street with my group of friends.

But these days that does not happen so much and the children were delighted to get such a opportunity and boy did they make the most of it!

They scootered up and down that street for hours, made games up,had races and had crashes!

The older children looked out for the young ones and it was so great to watch them,I had the time of my life watching them!

They even played Kerby! And it was the way they organised themselves without any adults butting in.Great stuff!

playing Kerby in the road!Look at the discarded scooter waiting for action!

Whilst the children were playing happily the adults had organised a group to sing! There were two people on guitars, one person on drums and my friend singing.

It made the party really special. There were people jiving on the drive and lots of clapping and foot tapping!

The thing I loved as well was the mix of age ranges there, from grandparents down to young children and everybody happy and getting on together.

As the night drew to a close Chipmunk kept saying to me

"I'm not tired!I'm not tired"

And all the grown ups smiled at each other because we all knew what that meant....

one very tired but absolutely happy little boy!

Red,White and Blue Day

Today was red, white and blue day at school and Chipmunk had a cool selection of tattoos, caps and capes to wear

It was a hetic start to the morning as I struggled to get my head around the picnic lunch box.Anything different to routine and my mind goes to mush! ( I actually forgot to put a spoon in for Chipmunks yoghurt, good job he had plenty of other yummy, scrummy stuff to nibble at.)

Anyway we set off for school with Chipmunks cape blowing in the wind.

It was great to see all the children dressed up and according to Chipmunk the highlight of the day was a extra long dinner time!He seems to think it was until 1.50! Who knows! He could be right!

 Christmas Stars - The Concert

Ahh,The Christmas Concert...

It was good :-)

I thought Id get my thoughts down as soon as I could so it would be fresh and just how I feel.

I was so nervous, mainly about the negotiating of the stage and thankfully that went ok,so with that fear gone the show went on.

Chipmunk walked on carrying a great big star and walked to the back off the stage, where he stayed for most of the show.

It was quite hard to see him, just every now and then I could see a big star bobbing up and down and I knew that it was him!

The story was about God holding auditions for his big show, the birth of Jesus and it was done in a X Factor style.

So traditional and up to date at the same time.

There was all the lead characters,Mary,Joseph,Innkeepers,Animals,Angels,Wise Men,A very enigmatic Herod and of course Stars and Chipmunk was a Star.

The children sang beautifully, there was a solo by Mary and the choir constantly sang enthusiastically.

Chipmunks lines were;

"We think we will make great Christmas Stars"

And God replied; "You will!"

There is something special about seeing a nativity, some of the parents had a few tears in their eyes.

It truly signifies Christmas to me.

I loved the way the children dismounted from the stage they kinda did their own thing and some jumped down, they looked happy.

Chipmunk ran and flung his arms round me,which as he was carrying a big star on a pole resulted with me being hit on the head with a star!

That's where the video ended playing!

Very Chipmunk though!

It was brilliant to watch and now next on the list for Chipmunk is the school disco, tomorrow night.

Christmas activities all over the place :-)

Zipper De Do Da

This morning was the typical Monday morning rush,I was just getting ready upstairs and Chipmunk had gone downstairs to put his coat & shoes on.

As I walked down the stairs I could not believe what I was seeing...he had zipped his own coat up!

For many people this may not be that amazing but to me it was pure magic.

We have tried for ages to learn how to zip coats.

I have brought so many different coats in the hope that Chipmunk would be able to zip them and all to no avail.

Then along came the big blue coat.
And all of a sudden Chipmunk is zipping!

And he is sooo proud!

He was beaming when I saw what he had done and so was I!

He did want to be independent all along but just didn't have the skills needed to do zips.

He does now tho!!!

And we are fantastically pleased about it!

14th November 2011 ~ coat zipped up day!

Bonfire Night

We learnt about the history of bonfire night

We used a cylinder tube and foil

to make a rocket

Then we made a pointy top

And some flames to finish our rocket off

Ta Da...it's a rocket

Then we had quiet fireworks

All the boys came to watch the fireworks and then me and Chipmunk sat watching everybody else's fireworks through the window!

A very quiet but chilled out bonfire night.

Sharky's Birthday

Had to post about Sharky's birthday :-)

Tomorrow he is 15!He has only one year left at school, how an earth did that happen!

I have seen a lot of change in him during this past year;

Physically he has shot up and is very tall now,he seems to grow every week at the moment and is nearly as tall as Tiger!

He has the absolute attitude of the stereotypical teenager!

He sleeps really late! His body clock is mixed up and he comes alive at night when we are all sleepy and he is on top form then ~ not a good mix!

He loves fizzy pop!He will walk to the local shop just for a can of pop.Monster is his favourite but he also likes Dr Pepper a bit too much for my liking :-)
He also would live on Pot Noodles if I would let him and he loves toasties too.

Obviously he spends waaaay too much time on his lap top,x-box,iPod
I try to limit it but it's a losing battle!

He is doing really well at school especially in maths which makes all the family smile
He is doing well with his construction diploma too and got the highest scores for some of his work!

He loves Vans and clothes from Republic and other pricey shops

He is still cheeky and loves jumping out at people to make them jump

He is very opinionated and has a view on everything and everybody!

Tomorrow we are having a family party for him.
Plenty of cakes, sweets, pizza, pot noodles, fizzy pop,hot dogs and chips!

Sharky you are so well loved, don't ever change, you make us laugh and we love you so very, very much X
