Six Sentence Stories
Josie is encouraging people to get their imaginations working and to come up with a story in just six sentences. It's really good fun. Each week you get a prompt and then it's put on your thinking cap time. This week the prompt was Silence pop over to Six Sentence Stories and see what everybody has come up with. Here is my story,I wonder if anyone will empathise with it!

Silence
"That's enough,be quiet, pleeease don't say one more word for at least one minute" pleaded his exhausted mummy,it had been a long, hectic day and Lucy was whacked.
But as soon as the words were out of her mouth she regretted them.
Yep she had got the most talkative child in the world,a true chatterbox, but didn't he get that from her,Lucy grinned, she knew full well the answer to that question!
And wasn't time running out,September was on its way, soon children would be swapping their brightly coloured summery clothes for the formality of school uniforms, not something Lucy was looking forward to.
Long days without her little friend,it tugged at Lucy's heart just to think about it.
Silence is over rated thought Lucy, she turned to her little boy and smiled gently at him "What did you want to tell me?" she said

  1. A wonderful story straight from a mother's heart, Jess! I remember this feeling so well when my children were young. I would fuss about the noise and the mess and the constant chasing each other around, and no one paying any attention to mom's orders. Now that they are both grown and live far away, I would give anything to see them chasing each other across the floor and talking non-stop at the table! Thanks for a great 6SS story and for the sweet reminder of the days when mine were small!

    1. Hello Josie, theres one thing in life that I do know and its that no matter how much the boys argue and run around yelping, when they are big and gone to wherever they will end up,these are the days I will miss and I feel that in my heart.Thats why I try to capture as much of it as I can - noise, mess and all!And if there is ever a chance to get out with them or tidy this mad home of mine I always go for the first option, this does lead to a very messy home but its the way it is! X :-)
Oh and that was me on Thursday night and as soon as the words were out of my mouth I knew what my six sentences was going to be based on. Luckily I did listen though!

    1. Patricia your comment really touched me and its something I will take on board. I do try and listen as much as possible but hearing you say that makes me realise, even more so,just what it means to a child to be listened to.Well actually I guess we ALL like to be listened to,dont we. A timely reminder, thank you x

  4. I know this story well! My daughter was an early talker and it seemed like she never stopped once she learned. Now she's 15. I'm thankful she still wants to talk to me as often as she does! Thanks for your story! It provoked good memories for me!
