Midweek Splashes & Dashes

Wednesday!Thank goodness! This week as usual has been tiring.I'm glad it's Thursday tomorrow.

Our random snippets are;

* Still to hear how Tiger and
Sharky's school did in the
Ofsted review.
Hope they did well.Both boys
report that the school has
stepped up security because
of what was said by Ofsted.
Is that good because now they
are more secure or worrying
that they was not secure before!

* It's been hard this week to fit
Chipmunks reading school
reading in.
A party last night & he left his
book at school on Monday
night.
The thing is that Chipmunk
enjoys being a *rocket reader*
because you get a lovely
sticker if you read 5 times a
week.
We will have to catch up tonight
and tomorrow hopefully!

* Weathers taken a turn for the
worst here.
This reminds me that
Chipmunk needs a new coat.
I want one that is mega easy
to fasten and covers his legs
more this time.
His old coat was quite a short
style and I definitely do not want
elastic at the bottom of the coat
this time,it was way too hard for
him to fasten ~ things learnt in
hindsight!

* It will soon be gloves,hat &
scarf season too,that needs
sorting.

* Here is is photo of Chipmunks
sunflower

He planted it on a school trip
to the village allotments.
At first I thought it wouldn't grow
as it got a bit neglected but it
has done and every morning
Chipmunk checks it.
Today he was thrilled because
it is flowering!
We love it!
And his pots of Violas that he
planted about a month ago
are thriving.
He's turning into a little
grower!

Post of the Week

 Post Of The Week

My post of the week was this one from Naomi who blogs at Seven Cherubs

Naomi was blogging about what sort of blogger were you.

Here's a snippet of what she said;

" I have been looking at the message I am trying to send.

I have been asking myself:

Are you seeking to be famous?

Are you seeking to be recognised?

Are you seeking to be validated?

Are you seeking to be helpful?
_______________

Go to this link What Kind Of Blogger Are You and see what Naomi's conclusion was.I found it a really interesting and thought provoking read

I'am going to link this post up with Ella from Notes From Home

Splashes & Dashes of Weekend Life

Well it's been a rainy old weekend, especially Saturday, when we spent most of the day curled up watching television,oh and doing homework!Homework is much more obvious now Chipmunk is in juniors. In fact it seems never ending!

We had set a new household record at *catch* 436 catches!Wow!At the end Chipmunk was so tired he was willing the ball to drop so he could rest!

We made my mum a birthday card. That's a post in itself!

We did get out for a quick walk to the shops and the fresh air was very welcome.

Budge the hamster got cleaned out, which thrilled Chipmunk,as he got to see Budge closely. So now we have a nice clean hamster, phew.

Tiger went to Lincoln to visit his girlfriend. He seems to have had a good time.

And Sharky spent the whole weekend glued onto his laptop, changing only to go on his X Box!

And that sums the weekend up really.Quite relaxed!

 to do Six Word Saturday.

My six words to describe this week are;

This Week Blogging Has Been Fun

Thank you to all the people who have stopped by my blog and posted a comment,it has meant a lot to me and made me smile.

When I work out a way to follow people anonymously I will do so,its only the anonymous thing that stops me doing it. I have added several new bogs to my google reader though and so am following in that way.

Have a good weekend everybody

Dear So and So...

I absolutely love this meme! Its right up my street and if talking to inanimate objects and people who are not going to hear what I say is wrong so be it! I'm linking up with Kat at 3 Bedroom Bungalow to do Dear So And So

Dear Royal ballet,
Thank you for coming to my sons school to teach him and his classmates about ballet.
Of course there are a lot of mumblings and grumblings from the boys about you coming.
To be honest I don't think they want you at their school at all. But I think you are winning them around!
My son says he hates ballet but he seems to talk about it a lot and he shows me the moves you teach him,so something is going in! Keep up the good work

Love from a smirking mum

Dear Lunchboxes,
I'm sorry,I really am, but from next week I'm going to not be taking as good care of you :-(
You must have noticed your owners treat me badly and leave the carefully made sandwiches and scoff all the good stuff!
Well I've had enough!
It's so disheartening to empty sandwiches that haven't even been unwrapped and I've tried everything I can to make them more appealing but to no avail. So it's either rubbish lunches or my sanity and I'm choosing my sanity, coz to be truthful I need it to survive.
From now on no more expensive bread, different sandwich fillers every day, best chicken, lovely ham. Instead I'm buying cheaper bread & just putting cheese on or nasty cheap ham. At least then they will have a dinner if they want but I won't be totally out of pocket and upset if they waste it,as they have been doing lately. Perhaps one day they may get fed up and ask for other stuff but until then cheaper sandwich lunches rule
Yours apologetically
From a mum of teen boys who prefer junk food to my carefully made sandwiches

Dear physio,
I'm sorry for my smallest boys behavior whenever he enters your room.
Its not acceptable that  he says he's bored (I think he means he finds it hard and can't be bothered) and he shouldn't roll when you say crawl and slide on his tummy when you ask him to crawl!
Of course I have told him to behave on many occasions, before we walk through your door and he always says he will, but the minute he walks through your door its as though he changes and he delights in doing everything awkwardly!
My apologies
From a highly embarrassed mother,grr!

Looking forward to hearing everyone elses :-)

Linking up this week with Shae at Yay For Home

This week for things I know I thought I would concentrate on things I know about children who have just learnt to read like my youngest son has!
It's a special time and here are some things I know about having a new reader :-)

They read anything! Leaflets, books, items of shopping, adverts(especially adverts) just absolutely anything that has words.

They read all the time! in bed, when they should be getting ready for school,on walks,in the car, late at night, early in the morning, basically they read whenever and wherever!

They read things that can be embarrassing for their mums!
A certain young boy here yelled out on the bus recently,"That says poo!"
"No it doesn't!" I said
"It does" he indignantly replied"It says check your poo!"
On closer examination it did indeed say that!
Oops mummy,you were wrong!

They carry books with them everywhere! Upstairs,in the toilet,to the shops, anywhere they visit.

Hearing their voices read is the sweetest thing!I can be so busy but if I hear my son reading,I tend to stop and listen in,I turn the radio off too,how can a radio compare with the cute voice of my littlest boy reading? It cant!

I know its great fun finding books to keep him busy!

It's a pleasure to teach a child to read and what a achievement for them and us when it all comes together and hey presto they are reading!

To have grown a book worm always makes me smile and extremely proud and I definitely know that!
