Six Word Saturday
My Six Words Are
'The Fastest Paperboy In The West!'
Hey guess what... I've got a paper boy!
No I'm not having a daily newspaper delivered ( cant afford that luxury these days and the papers are full of rubbish these days and who needs a paper when you have Twitter, oops I digress )
No what I mean is that Sharky has got his first job and it's delivering papers at the weekend.
Yep,no more lazing in bed for him, rolling downstairs in that red dressing gown of his, lying on the settee looking like death warmed up.
Oh no,instead he will be up at the crack of dawn, well 6.30am to be precise and out the house delivering newspapers to the good people of our village.
I'm really proud of him,he got this job all by himself and I feel it will give him a certain amount of responsibility that will be good for him.
Oh and don't forget the cash,it will give him some money each week, not as much as I feel it should be but money is money and the young un has needs, mainly fizzy pop needs! It will be interesting to see what he spends his hard earned cash on.Our guess is fizzy pop for the first few weeks!
I'am concerned about the roads,I don't fancy him riding his bike around on the roads but all in all I think this is a good thing for him.
He has been on a practice run tonight and tomorrow is his first day!
I wish you the best of British Sharky, keep safe and bring me a cuppa tea in bed when you've finished your round!
Er that was wrote last night,Im now waiting for him to arrive back safe and sound and I made him the cuppa! As if it was ever going to be different!
Linking up to Cate who hosts Six Word Saturday
Go and read some of the entries over there
they are a great bunch who are well worth a visit
*waves over to all the SWS guys ''Hiya you lot!''
Congrats to Sharky. Remember that fizzy pop is one of the worst things for ruining teeth (there speaks the wife of a dentist)
ReplyDeleteWell I told Sharky about the fizzy pop & he grinned and I said "told you so!"
DeleteWhen the boys were young they very rarely had fizzy pop but since they started comp school they wonder out and about and spend their money on what I consider 'bad stuff' fizzy pop is some of it!And young Sharky is showing a real liking for it,unfortunately!Im hoping the craze will pass!
You'll never stop being a mum, no matter what job he has :)
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile and I bet it's oh so true!
DeleteRide on, Sharkman! The world's depending on you!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I loved this comment!A new name has been born! 'sharkman' rules!
DeleteCan you save a paper for Mum? And go easy on that 'fizzy pop'...(Is that 'soda'?)
ReplyDeleteWell I asked him if he could save me a paper,he said no!Perhsps when he gets his feet under the table,so to speak!
DeleteHe is loving pop too much these days! Now he's older he just wanders up to the shop and always comes back with fizzy stuff!Im hoping he soon stops it!Oh and yes fizzy pop is soda :-)
Too funny. Speaking of paperboys we used always have them too, now we have drive by papermen or women as they deliver way down at our mailbox by car....no more paperboys for me. :(
ReplyDeleteI told Sharky that paper boys were extinct in your area,he gave a wry smile & knew he was one of a dying breed! No more paper boys, what is the world coming to!
DeleteHi Jess ~~ Wonderful that Sharky has that job. I know he will do good with it. Perhaps he will have a left over paper for you now and then. We don't take the Monday and Tuesday paper but do for the rest of the week. We are saving a little but not nearly like you are.
ReplyDeleteOur Brit kids have been visiting us here in Texas for a couple of weeks now, it will end for our daughter Sunday (she works in London) and then another week and a half for hubby/stay-at-home-mom and the girls so they can get ready for school.
We took the little one (three-year-old) to the circus here:
With granddaughter at the circus--Jim's Six Words for August 4
..
Hello Jim :-) thanks for the positive vibes you sent over for Sharky! He did ok today but boy it took him a long time! The shop owners gave him a trolley and said he had to leave his bike until he got more confident. This meant he had to walk back to the shop instead of finishing his round and then coming home and the shop was half a hours walk from the end of the round and then he had to get home!A lot of walking for a small wage! But hey we will press on and things can only improve, hopefully!
DeleteI loved your SWS the circus looked fun!wow those elephants!I have never seen anything like that in my life!
I'll pop over to your blog later to comment properly,I'm just rustling tea up at the mo :-)
Congrats to you and the newsboy!
ReplyDeleteThank you :-) Iam very proud of him!Good to have a positive work ethic I think
DeleteYou must be so proud. It is good for him. Have a wonderful Sunday. hugs shakira
ReplyDeleteMine is here
Thank you :-) Iam actually very proud,I love it that he has enough application to go out and try something new!The pay is rotten though!
DeleteCongratulations to your paper boy!
ReplyDeleteThsnk you :-) he was a pretty tired kid when he got back but I think it's good for his self esteem earning his own money. As its school hols at least he can rest up
DeleteCongratulations... and having extra cash never hurt anyone.... (or did it?)
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend
Thank you :-) well the pay is so bad he can't get up too much with it but at least it will be something for him to either spend or save and money once a week will mean a lot to him.He gets pocket money once a month so a weekly income will be brill for him.Hope you have a good weekend too x
DeleteGood place to start the working career!
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday!
Linda @ Truthful Tidbits
Yep I guess we all have to start somewhere! No matter where you start I think it's good to learn about the working world and job responsibility. We shall see how he progresses!
DeleteHave a lovely weekend xxx
Congrats to your paperboy! And, really, that's pretty impressive, that he'd get something that requires such an early start. I'm not sure even *I* would want to do that. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThought you were describing yourself at first glance! Being a mum.... My youngest (22) arrived home yesterday to the fullest house and somebody sleeping in his bed (a most unusual occurence, but he'd been warned and had forgotten). Me making up a put-up bed at 11pm.
