Well the first day back at school has finally come and I'm sat here waiting to go and pick Chipmunk up!He was ok this morning but understandably nervous.
When I went into his bedroom to wake him I said 'Are you ready for juniors?'
To which he replied 'Yes,ready and able.'
By breakfast though he was more reticent and he came up and cuddled me saying 'I think I just cant do this'
He did do it though and all day I have been wondering: did he manage at playtime,has he eaten his lunch ok,has he had anyone to play with,has he got lost,did he miss his home.
Well I will soon find out because its time to pick him up,I hope hes had a super day!We shall soon see!

100% Attendance!
Today Chipmunk got a very special medal.During the last few weeks he has had medals for football,medals for reading but this medal was for 100% Attendance during this year!
This is something that's really important to me because it has not always been this way.
When Chipmunk first started school his attendance was poor,he seemed to get illness after illness and we just couldn't keep him fit and healthy.
I personally feel that stress played a big part in all of this.
During year one progress with attendance was made but we were still struggling to make even half a term without any time off.
Then during year two Chipmunk made a whole term at school and I was thrilled,this went on to be two terms and then the unbelievable 100% attendance record!
For me this is so special!From a really bad start to a fantastic ending!
Chipmunk was really pleased with this medal and had a few comments from the other children who knew the importance of what he had done ~ one little boy said 'that means he has come to school every day' and he looked amazed :-)
Well done Chipmunk,mummy is really proud of you!

Last days at infants
Just three days left Chipmunk and you will no longer be a infant boy!To me that is pretty amazing!I have so many memories of you all at that school and you will be our last boy there.No more standing on the Infant playground,no more personally knowing all your teachers,no more walking in school as and when to see you or the teachers,it's all change!
Well today was the pet show and you took our Russian Hamsters Budge and Nudge in!
You were so excited to show them all your friends and I was quite suprised to find out that you had been holding them!
Apparently Kurt dropped one of them,good job they were found!
And they won this certificate
We are all very proud!
Tomorrow it's the talent show,what a exciting week you are having!And I'm glad, hopefully these will become your memories of infant school :-)

Ghosts In The Playground
On Friday night I took Chipmunk to the junior school BBQ and as I stood on the playground I could feel the memories of Tiger and Sharky surround me.
It's been just four years since Sharky left juniors but it feels like a lifetime ago!
I can remember when Tiger started there,I was apprehensive because it was a new school and it was the first time any of the boys had been anywhere unfamiliar.
Up to that time they had been at the infant school where I had worked since before they were born,I knew everybody at the school and they knew me but at juniors they didn't know Tiger and I didn't know any of the teachers at all,so it was very different.
At Tigers first parent teacher meeting at juniors I found out that his teacher was fine and that after just six weeks she knew Tiger well enough to put me at ease.He spent four good years there and was involved with the school football team and the tag rugby team.He went on his first residential trip whilst at the juniors and I was sad to see Tiger leave juniors.
Sharky also had a good time at juniors,he was a much livelier character and incidents like splatting ink all over the newly decorated library and letting off stink bombs with his friends seem to stick in my mind!
It was while the boys were at juniors that I had Chipmunk and that's why Chipmunk's new teacher remembers him being born,as Tiger was in her year six class at the time.
So being on that school yard did bring back some memories of Tiger and Sharky when they were so much younger and now my last little boy is going to be going there ~ doesn't time fly.

Footy Club ~ 2
Today after school was the much awaited footy club!
Chipmunk was very excited about this club and had been counting down to it since last week!
Luckily this week the weather was ok,not sunny but at least the rain held off and the children were able to get out on the field.
Chipmunk was a goalkeeper today and they played what Chipmunk described as a *real match*
It was J.L's turn to take the trophy home at the end of the session,Chipmunk said he got it because he did a brilliant save!
Roll on next weeks footy club :-)

Footy Club
Chipmunk has joined the football after school club this week and what a success it was!
He got to wear a proper football kit ( pictured above ) and bring it home!
He was so proud of it!
The teacher who was running the club said Chipmunk *scored a cracking goal* in the penalty shoot out!
Chipmunk cannot wait to go again!

School Run
I love the school run!In the morning it's great to walk Chipmunk to school,he chatters away all the way there :-)
First we have a check that we've got everything;bag,sandwich box,drink,book packet.
Next we look to see if Sooty is there,then we cross the road and talk about shadows,Chipmunk loves looking at shadows and to see if they are on the road!If they
are on the road then it's a poor squashed shadow when a car comes!
It is funny because you see the shadows go on drives,hedges,walls and Chipmunk really giggles if the shadows go somewhere funny!
We always cross the road with the lollipop lady and Chipmunk will say a really polite thank you to her when we are on the other side.
Then we walk down the school drive,sometimes seeing Mr Smith the school caretaker and arrive at nursery.
And that is another story :-)

Back To School
Well a week passes quickly when you are having fun and school comes around again!
It's the last half of the summer term,we have just 6 weeks and 3 days to do!
In that time there will be a sports day,transition to junior school,special leavers assemblies for Chipmunk, exams and work experience for Sharky,lots & lots of stuff!
Today went ok,weather was fine,always a plus!
Chipmunk had new trousers on,that I had painstakingly taken up last night.
It was worth the effort though as he said they were very comfy.
Sharky said the exam went ok and Chipmunk came home with 3 letters;
1. He's got in football and
photography club.
2. Letter from Juniors about
school uniform
3. A big newsletter full of dates
and fun events coming up
this half term.
Chipmunk said they had been allowed on the school field at playtimes,which is a sign that summer term is here.
Long may the dry weather continue,it's nice to see the kids playing on the field and grass is softer than concrete :-)
One of the games Chipmunk was playing on the field was *Bulldog*
it's a kind of tiggy game where the person who's on is *the bulldog* and when they tig someone then they are the bulldog.
Chipmunk likes this game!
After tea Chipmunk read to page 14 of his new book *The Two Giants* and did a jigsaw,he also played musical freeze whilst listening to Justin Beiber singing Baby ( one of his favourite songs at the moment )
Yes we have one piece missing from this jigsaw but it doesn't seem to bother Chipmunk!
