I just got to do a quick post about our fab bike ride to the comp!
After dinner today I decided to see just how far Chipmunk could ride his bike to.We set off towards our local comp and low and behold we made it there!
There was not much stressing and not much wobbling and a very proud mummy and son!
Chipmunk managed to go through gates,go up hills and even more scary ~ go down hills!
I even managed to ride my bike and I only got bumped off it once which is a major improvement to last year when I literally needed valium after a bike ride with Chipmunk!
This time it was nearly pleasurable!I still had to watch him carefully but the improvement was amazing and I'am so pleased!
We are winning! #bikeridingsuccess

Hello, this blog is somewhere for me to record snippets of family life as these boys of mine grow up. Time flies,so the saying goes and I want to save some of my precious memories and this seems a good way to do it. I want this blog to be a happy place so much of what I post on here will be the nice stuff of life, that's not to say it is all blue skies and sunshine here but just that I choose to make the happy times recordable

Bike Rides
So as I was saying earlier in the week Chipmunk is learning to ride his bike and he is doing it with vengeance!
Every spare moment he gets he wants to be out on the bike and that means that I'm out watching him because although our cul de sac is safe and does not have many cars coming and going there's no way I could leave him out on his own,he plays on our drive at the moment where we can see him and will be doing for a long time yet!
So if Chipmunks out,I'm out!Whatever the weather, sunny, cold, drizzly we are out!
It's getting easier.Chipmunk is not so wobbly now and so I have not had quite so many heart attack moments.
I can breathe a lot easier these days,I don't run at the side of him, holding my breath and whispering as many prayers as I can, like I used to do ~ this is a improvement!
Now I stay on the pavement whilst he bikes round,my heart stays in the right place instead of being in my mouth everytime he wobbles!Phew!
I still wish the roads were softer and there were matresses at the side of him just incase he falls off and a horde of angels hovering above him making sure he sits straight and comes to no harm but apart from that I'm totally chilled out about the bike riding
:-)
And the riding is good!He *is* steadier and he *can* corner and most importantly he loves it!His confidence grows daily,it is a pleasure to watch him and today I was so cold just stood watching I got my bike out and joined him and it was fab :-)
I wasn't so worried about him so I could just happily potter around on my bike and Chipmunk thought this was great ~ he had a racing partner!
We had such fun out there, going round and round our little circuit and I'm sure we will be doing it again and again.

Bikes,Walks and Grandparents
Today was lovely!Well the beginning and the end was yukko but the middle was just great!
We went to Sherwood Forest and it was a gorgeous day, blue skies and sun. This worked well in the forest, the trees gave us shade but we could still see blue sky up above

The flags were still up from last weeks Robin Hood Festival

We went to have a look around the Robin Hood stuff and then set off too search for The Major Oak,Chipmunk was 'Project Leader' a title he took very seriously and his job was too lead me to the Major Oak.This involved him reading all the signs

On our way round Chipmunk read all the signs and information boards ~ this fact stuck in my mind ~ there are over 200 different types of spider here and Sherwood Forest is in this countries top ten places for spiders!Hmm interesting to know!I was certainly careful where I put my feet after reading that!

Just some of the spiders you can find in the forest!
We followed the signs down windy paths

Until we came to a opening

And a sign which said

Woohoo we were nearly there!
Chipmunk got a new lease of life and ran on ahead,as 'project leaders' do :-)
We came to a break in the trees and there it was The Major Oak and some tents

We found a perfect spot to have a crisp picnic and after we had fed,Chipmunk began to climb trees and that's when my phone camera gave up the ghost ~ it had 3055 photos on and 55 videos! So no photo of the Major Oak and time for a *big clear out of photos!*
We walked up to the big field and saw a cricket match being played. We played footy and catch and Chipmunk found a leaf to take home and stick in his summer scrapbook.
It was a lovely trip out :-)
When we got back home Chipmunk was determined to go on his big bike so off we went!
We have a great cul de sac for bike riding, not many cars going up and down and a wide flat space for Chipmunk to pedal his bike round.
He is getting so much steadier these days and I'am so proud of him,he showed his grandparents how well he could ride and they were all pleased too!Way to go Chipmunk!

The Bike!I think I'm going to be spending a fair bit of time out here watching Chipmunk on this bike!
So all in all a good day, always nice to see the family and how nice to be able to chill on a Sunday night instead of going on a mad "get ready for the week ahead frenzy" ~ I always appreciate that!

Dirty Socks & Friction Burns
Today Chipmunk and me went to The White Post Farm Park and had a brilliant time!
We stayed for ages and did so many different things.
We spent loads of time with the animals, first we fed the ducks

then we walked to feed the sheep and goats.Chipmunk was very brave and fed some very assertive sheep,no goat stood a chance with these sheep around!

It made Chipmunk giggle as the sheep fed, rather him than me!
We then had a long walk to see the pigs.I loved the pigs, they were so funny

They kept squeezing under the fence to get to some food,it's a wonder they didn't get stuck!
There was a huddle of pigs all asleep together, they couldn't have got closer if they tried

And they were so noisy, squealing and chasing each other around

This pig was my favourite it looked so cute sleeping there

After laughing at the piggy wigs we went for lunch and then Chipmunk had a great time on the trampolines. He got sooo hot and had to keep stopping for rests and drinks,I sat cringing as he bounced but he had such a lovely time!
After playing on the playground we decide to cool off and go for a sit down to watch the animal show, which suprisingly we both enjoyed!Chipmunk was enthralled to see some of the animals he had seen earlier performing, especially Pigwig the pig

And Rainbow the Alopaca
I took Chipmunk for a ice cream and then he drove a pretend tractor

and went to see a variety of small animals including guinea pigs, meerkats, lizards, tortoises and a gigantic tarantula!
We had quite a interesting time in the aviary where some little parrot type birds flew on Chipmunks hands, shoulder and even his head,at that point I decided it was time to get out as they seemed to be pecking his ear!

The thing that Chipmunk really liked though was the big slide. You had to sit in a kind of basket and launch yourself down the slope.
Chipmunk went down all by his self and got his very first friction burn :-/ but he quickly jumped up and it didn't seem to put him off at all ( since coming home tho he has fussed and is very proud to show anyone his war wound)
I had a couple of goes on the slide and then sat watching the children play.
There was a dad with his daughter sliding down happily together and a grandma sliding with her grandchildren!Hope I'm like that one day!
Chipmunk played on that slide until he was hot and sweaty. His socks were absolutely dirty with that and the trampolines and I loved it,even though they were new and ruined because lots of the time Chipmunk stays clean because he doesn't run around and play so I appreciate seeing dirty, mucky socks,it means Chipmunks played and what can be nicer than that :-)

The super slide that Chipmunk loved and conquered!

The Pole
This pole may not seem much but it makes me smile every time I pass it!
It all goes back to the time when Sharky was at Leas Park & we had a friend called Chloe, when they both came out of school they would run to this pole and do roley poleys over and over again.
These days I would give anything to see a little one doing that but I do appreciate the memory of the little boy who used to spin round and round and round :-)
The pole is bit broke now and really rusty but still it makes me smile!
