Fresh Air
Ducks that grouped together as if posing for photos, sticks that were soooo big they weren't actually sticks at all - they were probably small trees, mud that was gloopy and sticky, big muddy puddles that turned into our only hope of getting gunge off our dirty hands, swans that cornered us and nearly won the battle....until we cunningly led them away with the use of breadcrumbs and seeds...we know how to distract a swan and escape....they know how to back us into a corner and hiss at us until we are actually a tinsy bit scared and a cafe that sells the best butter flapjack ever and has cups of tea that warm your hands and you sit there with your little boy and for a while all is peaceful and all is good.
Yep,thats the duckpond.
We walked, talked, saw trains, found such a variety of animals to look at,looked at sunsets and water and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Out in the open,in the fresh air. We are at our best when we are outside,me and Chips. No distraction, just me and him and nature. It does the trick everytime.
Lovely photos, and well done on capturing that rat shot, too! Fresh air and ducks - what more do you need for a little R&R?
ReplyDeleteHee,I was so proud of getting a photo of that rat!We have spotted rats around those reeds for a few visits now but they are usually that quick that I miss them.Young Chips is fascinated by them and always tries to catch a glimpse of them.
DeleteThanks for stopping by :-)
Gorgeous shots (not sure I'd include the rat one in that though). Looks like a lovely lake to walk around.
ReplyDeleteAhh Erica it IS a lovely lake to walk around and there seems to be so much more wildlife creeping in there these days, its a great place to spot animals. Oh and as for the rat...we just love the little guy,not sure I would want him in my lounge but in his own environment we love him!
DeleteThanks for stopping by :-)
Gorgeous photographs and you've got to love curly hair on boys, so cute :)
ReplyDeleteOh Debra I love my little boys curls SO much. That long blonde curly hair is not going to be cut for a long time yet!Gone are the days when all boys had to have short hair!Thank you for commenting and stopping by :-)
DeletePerfectly summed up, it's great to get some fresh air and put life into perspective and enjoy the moment. Lovely photos of the pond and your happy son - here's to more outdoor adventures in 2014. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
ReplyDeleteEvening Fiona,I had such a lovely time at our duck pond,it never ceases to make me smile up there and Chips plays fantastically in the trees and with sticks and stones and to me this is what childhood is all about,it truly warms my heart to see children playing outside. This year Im hoping to encourage it as much as I can.
DeleteSounds idyllic! Beautiful photographs too xx
ReplyDeleteKate
Just Pirouette and Carry On...
Thanks Kate,I just love snapping away and it was such a beautiful day up there.I actually took loads of photos and only stopped when my memory card was full and do you know the cheeky devil said I couldn't take any more photos!Cant rely on anyone these days eh! Thanks for commenting xx
Deletelooks a beautiful spot, great photos
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful spot Becky, quite big and with quite a lot of wildlife dotted around. In all seasons we love it up there and it has taught Chips, and me I guess, lots about wildlife.
DeleteThanks for popping by :-)
Fresh air is the best! A great place to spend some time with your wee man!
ReplyDeleteSabrina I LOVE fresh air,I truly do! I always feel better after being out in the fresh air,Im a right outside girl.
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog :-)
You're right - fresh air is all it needs. Though swans, ducks, rats and flapjacks all help too! Your duckpond looks ace - here's to many more happy visits in 2014 :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :-) I hope and know we will definitely be visiting the duckpond many more times in 2014.Last year we discovered a couple of trails leading off from this pond,I think we will be trying those out in 2014. To me nothing beats walking and talking with no distractions,it equals that, sometimes elusive 'quality time' and Im all for that :-)
DeleteThanks for visiting me :-)
Lovely post! Getting out in the fresh air is just the best thing :) #CountryKids
