Six Word Saturday
A Good Teacher Is Worth Everything
Gosh Saturday comes round fast, doesn't it!
Well my six words this week are heartfelt...Chipmunks teacher...I really like her and what's more trust in her.
And these are a few reasons I rate her so highly
She is fair ~ no matter what ability a child has this teacher teaches them at their level whilst expecting certain basic rules that to survive in society children need to know.
She is fun and has a sense of humour ~ even tho at first she may seem very to the point and takes no messing I also see smiles and laughter and ruffles of hair. Its a good mix in my opinion.
She has boundaries ~ I think to work and play successfully children need boundaries that don't move and this teacher has them!
She has a brilliant rapport with parents ~ catch the parents and the job is half way done I always say.Once a parent knows you like their child and that you going to support them as a family the whole home/school partnership becomes much more workable.
She has a tub of Haribo's for when the children have done good things ~ what more could you ask for in a teacher!
I truly like Chippies teacher, already I don't want him to move up to his next class but in the meantime I'm appreciating the fab teacher he has got!

Aw, I know the feeling--I'm worried about what kind of teacher my son will get next year too because I just love the one he has now so much. I'm so glad that you like your son's teacher! What a blessing! She really does sound great.
ReplyDeleteHello Xiomara, its funny isnt it,when you have a good teacher its heaven and when you havnt its ouch all the way!Lets keep our fingers crossed for good teachers next year too! Thanks for commenting x

DeleteShe sounds like a great teacher! I feel the same way about my son's teacher. We're lucky, aren't we? :)
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend!
Hi Dana :-) Yes we are SO lucky to have good teachers this year, long may our luck continue!Hope your week is going well and hope to see you again on Saturday :-)
DeleteFine tribute. As a former (I hope good) teacher, & on behalf of good teachers everywhere, thank you for helping dispel the current & ongoing negative propaganda.
ReplyDeleteHi Ron,I'm a bit late replying to my 6WS comments this week!Thank you for your comments,I truly think that the impact a good teacher can have on a child's life is immense.I wish every child had the opportunity to spend ALL their years of schooling with the teachers who like children and want to do their best for their charges.Hope you are having a good week,lv Jess
DeleteGreat tribute! My son currently has a wonderful teacher, and you're right, they make all the difference... he had a great teacher last year, but she didn't click with him and he didn't make as many strides... this year, his teacher is on his wavelenght and he's surpassing all of his goals! So glad Chippy has the same opportunity!
ReplyDeleteHello Heather,I'm slowly plodding through last weeks 6WS replies to my post,I'm determined to comment back to all the lovely comments that I got but I seem to be on a go slow this week!
DeleteI'm glad your son has got one of those teachers that understand him too,boy oh boy doesn't it make a difference! For me it's peace of mind and I SO appreciate it!
And then some.
ReplyDeleteI so agree Debbie! Like gold dust good teachers are!
DeleteSo glad to hear this! I know it is hard to be a teacher these days...but this one sounds dedicated...and I am glad your child is doing so well.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, yep young Chippies teacher is certainly dedicated and I see her rising to the top as she seems to be taking on some of the absent deputy heads role.Destined for success I think.Sorry my reply is SO late, life bit me this week!
DeleteTruer words were never written. A teacher can make all the difference in a child's life.
ReplyDeleteMorning Brenda :-) I'm Little Miss Slowcoach at replying to the comments this week!
DeleteIt IS so true isn't it,that a good teacher can make all the difference in a child's life!Ours certainly has and for that I will always love her!
Some of my fondest childhood memories are a couple of teachers who made me feel capable, valued, and special. They instilled in me a sense of confidence that I wasn't finding elsewhere. I treasure their caring and encouragement to this day! It sounds like you have indeed been gifted with a wonderful teacher... boundaries are so very important to learn at a young age if we are to navigate life successfully as an adult!
ReplyDeleteMorning Josie!I know this is a late reply but I'm hoping it's better late than never! As I said to Linda 'life bit me this week!' I'm not even sure why but my blog has had to wait while I cleared my head.
DeleteI'm glad too hear your experiences of good teachers,it just goes to show how important teachers are in a child's life, when as adults we can still remember the good ones and the gifts they instilled in us.Long may good teachers rule!
Good teachers are very valuable. I went to eleven schools, and some really helped while others shut me down. Continuity is critical, and some knew I needed help while others seemed to blame me for the gaps in what I knew.
ReplyDeleteMorning Ann!Im the absolute late bird in catching up with 6WS comments this week!Ive had a week of busyiness and just general bluergh mood and that's why I'm so late in replying!
DeleteI can see what position you were in as a child and yep I can so picture the good guys who actually tried to help you and the ones who couldn't quite be bothered and put the onus on you for having gaps in your education.
I work in a school myself and I never want to be one of the kind of teachers that turn a blind eye to students who for whatever reason need that extra bit of thought and care.
I hope someone feels the same way about me, and lets me know someday. Although I am not a classroom teacher, it would be nice to see this from one of my student's parents. I hope you share this with her.

Hi Mlissabeth,I too hope that one day a parent will let you know how grateful they are for how you teach and care for their child.
DeleteI'm blown away by Chippies teacher and will tell anyone who listens!
I agree a teacher is so important!! It can make or break a year/semester/lesson. I can imagine your fears. But who knows the next might be a great one as well. And you are right, in the meantime enjoy what you have now :)
ReplyDeleteHello Cessie, better late than never for me too reply this week!
DeleteThank you for your comment to my 6WS post last week on my boys teacher.I will continue to be grateful for the time he has left in that class and keep my fingers crossed for the next one!
I hope she sees this post and knows she's appreciated, Jess. A good teacher is a huge asset.
ReplyDeleteMorning Jo,I'm just that teensy bit late on replying to the comments on my 6WS from LAST week, life got in the way and sucker punched me mid week and I haven't felt such a happy little blogger since!I was determined to reply to all tho so here goes...I do think Chippies teacher knows that I appreciate her,I'm not sure if she knows HOW much I truly appreciate her!To me,anybody who helps my child is a hero...simple as that! A good teacher gives me peace of mind and that is truly precious!
